Presidents Letter
September 2009
Welcome back to all members and affiliates.
I hope that your summer break was enjoyable and filled with good experiences for all.
As we return to our regular meeting schedule we are experiencing a market place still in turmoil. The news reports are beginning to indicate that we are on the brink of a turn around or at least near or at the bottom of this recession. As I visit realtor and attorney offices I hear about the lack of transactions and volume. I see my own business and that of other inspectors still slow and struggling, and I hear the concern in the voices of real estate professionals in all fields, about our future.
This is the time that we must increase our efforts to be the leader in our industry. We must make every effort to raise the level of our educational seminars, to improve the value of our monthly meetings to our membership, to attract new members to our association so it can continue to grow and to increase our visibility in the marketplace. Growing our association and positioning ourselves as the industry leaders can only make us more valuable to our referral sources. When our referral sources have confidence in ASHI inspectors then they will be more likely to refer ASHI inspectors only to there clients.
These goals can only be achieved if our current members become more involved in our association. The more ideas and suggestions that come to light from our members the more information our Board of Directors will have to work with. The more opinions we bring to the Board’s attention the better decisions the Board can make. The more voices the Board hears the better represented all our members can be. As the new President of the Garden State Chapter of ASHI I encourage each and every member to “get more involved” in OUR chapter. Whenever possible come early to the meetings and interact with other members, sit in on the Board of Directors meetings, seek out members of the Board during the general meetings and give us your opinions, make suggestions on topics of interest to yourself. Talk to other non-ASHI inspectors and invite them to attend a meeting or two.
As we move forward in the coming years our collective goals of a stronger and larger chapter, an association that is recognized as the Industry leader, and Garden State ASHI inspectors being sought out by real estate professionals can be achieved if we all work together to strengthen ourselves and our Chapter. Our chapter’s most valuable resource is the collective knowledge and experience of all our members. We must take advantage of this resource by encouraging more participation by all our members.
I look forward to working with all of you toward growing our individual businesses and the fulfillment of our goals.
Sergio Angione
