Narrative, Check list, Hybrid, Computerized. Are all acceptable and under what conditions. Summary Reports. Are summary reports acceptable as stand alone home inspection reports, or must they be included with a full report. Are summary reports advisable if a full inspection report is prepared. Pictures in Reports. Essential, optional, or simply a good idea? Common Complaints about Written Reports. Writing not clear. Defects and/or conditions are not clearly and completely identified. Can’t find the important findings of the inspection because they are buried in boilerplate etc. Common Errors in Reports. Errors of omission. Errors of inclusion (mistakenly copied from another report). Distinction between “inspected” and “observed” not made. Dissemination of Reports. Mailed, emailed, faxed etc. Are all acceptable or preferable. |
